We began our Florida adventure in 2009. We found this beautiful area of Central Florida as we entered retirement and on a whim vacationed in New Smyrna Beach for 2 weeks. We were hooked! We took it step by step, buying a “Periwinkle” on beachside as a second home, believing we'd ever want to return to our Northern Viriginia condo. Before long, we'd made the decision to make New Smyrna Beach our “forever home.” We rented out our condo and gained wonderful insight into caring for and managing rental property from afar. We were very successful, but the time came when the 800 mile periodic trek became daunting. So the idea to sell our condo and purchase rental properties close by was born!
First, we purchased a single-level duplex in 2015 centrally located beachside on Atlantic Avenue at 23rd Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. Each residence is approximately 1000 sf and consists of two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one car garages, and fenced back yards. The setup was perfect, with one side of the duplex (The Turquoise Hideaway) facing Atlantic Avenue. and the other side (The Coral Hideaway) facing a side-street. We knew this would be perfect for residents, who wanted not only location, location, location, but also separation and privacy from their neighbors. We made extensive renovations and opened our rental business in March of 2015. It's been going great guns ever since.
We've since followed that purchase up in 2016 with our newest addition, The Magnolia Hideaway. The Magnolia Hideaway is a darling, 1956 river-view cottage with separate efficiency apartment on the grounds. After lovingly overseeing across-the-board updates to the main house and apartment, we launched this rental property on Easter Sunday 2016 to much fanfare and interest.
